Working with a personal trainer has distinct advantages.  With guidance, your mind can focus on the task at hand without worrying about function and effectiveness or form.  Your time is more efficiently utilized, injuries are eliminated or at least minimized to a great extent and you will benefit from the expertise of a professional.

Muscle is denser than fat - some studies indicate that muscle has up to seven times more density.  A carefully planned, gentle and progressive weight training program, with strict adherence to form and follow-up, will allow you to increase your muscle mass, almost immediately.  And, while a cardio session helps your body burn calories for an hour or two, your body will typically continue to burn energy for one or two days after weight training.  (Think about what happens when a trainer helps you combine weights and cardio!)

Each program is designed specifically for you.  No two programs are alike.  According to the American Council on Exercise (www.ACEfitness.org) while many clients will begin to feel the positive effects of training in as little as one week, measurable changes will usually take about four weeks.  Realistically and typically, it takes a minimum of six weeks for you to see distinct results.  This statement is based on a two to three session per week structured program.  We suggest that you begin with a minimum of guided weight training with a trainer for two days a week, approximately 45 to 60 minutes for each session.  If you feel that you are able to, you are "on your own" one day a week with a prescribed workout agenda.  We can also suggest appropriate cardio or other activity in order to effectively cross-train and/or reach your specific goals and objectives.

At six weeks we step back, examine our progress, revise, reestablish and reaffirm our goals.  While we continually take steps along the way to measure effectiveness, at six weeks we can re-measure, re-caliper and test for progress.  At this point we discuss changes in the plan and move to the next level of fitness that is appropriate for you.

Here is what you get with a typical startup program:

How much does it cost?  A typical 30, 45 or 60 minute session ranges in price from $65. to $75.  Sessions bought in bundles of ten are at a reduced rate; bundles of twenty are the best overall "deal" and price will be based on the program you select.  While your results will definitely be better on a ten week (20 sessions) program, we recommend that you start off with at least ten sessions, which translates into a five week program.

With all the health benefits associated with weight training, as well as the convenience of our programs as outlined on our Philosophy page (Our Philosophy) we know that you will agree that our prices are fair and competitive.
